Brief
Working with Rose & Grey’s brand and marketing team, we developed a creative concept that would allow us to showcase a range of products in a short space of time, all achievable within one day of filming. It was vital that the video depict a mix of products and how they can utilised to create different looks. Our stop-motion concept allowed us to produce a video that was as malleable as each product set, providing multiple final edits for paid social and website content.
Production
Pushing the parameters of what we could achieve in a day, along with the added stop-motion element, came with a few risks. If one coffee mug or plant pot is slightly out of place, then the whole concept is flawed.
With that in mind, each shot was planned down to tee via a combination of shot lists, photoshopped reference frames and a moving storyboard. We also took care of the model casting and worked with the brand to organise the wardrobe.
The shoot took place in the corner of Rose & Grey’s showroom, with a pre-planned list of products lined up. We dressed and lit the set using our own lighting, blocking out all natural light to avoid changes throughout the day. We operated a two-man crew consisting of DOP (cameras / lighting) and Director (creative direction and producing).

Post-production
The video rests as heavily on the edit as it does the filming. The stop-motion technique requires multiple shots to be combined and used in parts - allowing us to bring products in and out of the frame.
Each shot was masked and precisely cut to the beat of the soundtrack, working through a full range change as the video progresses. We also added an element of retouch to remove plug sockets from the wall whilst the model walks past, tricky but fun!
