Brief
Isabel Mayfair is a premium restaurant and lounge bar nestled in the heart of central London. They wanted to launch their latest cocktail menu with a bang and asked us to shoot and edit a selection of cocktail recipes to be used across various social channels.
Pre-Production
We researched the premium cocktail market and scoured IGTV to gain a greater understanding of mouth-watering, scroll stopping drinks content. With 6 recipes in mind and only one day to capture them all across 3 locations, planning was key. We produced a shot list and moodboards based on the core steps of each making each cocktail, leaving some room for creativity inspired on the day.
Production
We unloaded the kit bright and early on site and began to rig the lighting. The first thing to note in any location is lighting and set design/styling. Some things often look great to the naked eye but don’t translate that well on camera, so we tackle that first. We often switch off all of the house lights and bring in our own kit to add drama and highlights to key areas.
(This helps draws the audiences eye to the drinks rather than the distracting flickering lights in the background).
Once the bar area was dressed and lit, it was onto filming. We covered each cocktail twice. Once on a wide for safety and once more capturing all the macro detail shots that make you feel like you’re in the drink. We then stepped in with some fun rigs such as ‘spoon cam’ to mix up the angles and add a bit of creative flair.

Post-Production
Our in-house team took care of the edit from start to finish, including grading and graphics.
Shooting on our RED Gemini in 5K 100fps makes delivering a vertical and widescreen version easy without any loss in resolution. (Our server may not thank us for it but our clients definitely do).
When working through the edit we’re often driven by the music choice. We collaborated with the restaurant’s ‘Director of Music’ to establish a vibe that’s on brand, interesting to listen to and mirrors the restaurant experience.
Once we had a style for the 30s vertical edits signed off, we were able to replicate the pace and split-screen themes across the other 5 videos.
