Creating photorealistic 3D models using an iphone
We’ve been developing our animation and VFX department at Dead Pixel strengthening our offering to compliment our live action video content.
Utilising a fairly new technique called photogrammetry we captured a brand new pair of Nike Blazer 77’s with >150 still images and stitched them together using Ai.
We then dropped the model into 3D software to finesse the texture map and output a version that can used in Adobe After Effects. Once we light it up, we can do pretty much anything with it.
Something that can typically take weeks for a talented 3D designer to construct can be done in a matter of hours.
This type of animation technique is still in it’s infancy and the full capabilities or uses are not yet known but it’s something we’re going to keep testing and developing
